Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Canis Discord bot and the website canisbot.com (together, the "Service"), operated by Canis ("we," "us," "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

01 // The Service

Canis is a voice-activated and text-based AI assistant for gamers, delivered through Discord. Canis provides in-game information, answers questions, stores personal notes, and surfaces community-contributed knowledge. The Service includes the Canis Discord bot, the canisbot.com website, and any associated features.

02 // Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using Canis, you represent that you meet this age requirement. You must also have a valid Discord account in good standing.

03 // Accounts and Authentication

You access the Service through your Discord account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Discord account. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized use of your account.

04 // Subscriptions and Billing

Canis offers a free tier and paid subscription plans. Details of each plan, including pricing and query limits, are available at canisbot.com/subscription.

Free tier: Available at no cost, subject to the usage limits described on the subscription page.

Paid plans: Billed monthly through Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically each month unless you cancel. You may cancel at any time through canisbot.com; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are provided for unused portions of a billing period.

Founder plan pricing: The Founder plan is available during the beta period at a price-locked rate of $3.99/month for the lifetime of your continuous subscription. If you cancel and later resubscribe, the price lock no longer applies and you will be placed on the then-current plan and pricing.

We reserve the right to change pricing for new subscriptions or new plan tiers. Existing subscribers will be given at least 30 days' notice before any price change affects their account, except for Founder plan subscribers whose price is locked as described above.

05 // Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others in any Discord server
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or access controls
• Use automated tools, scripts, or bots to interact with Canis (beyond the normal Discord bot interaction)
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or underlying models of the Service
• Submit notes or content that is illegal, abusive, harassing, or that infringes on the rights of others
• Deliberately submit false or misleading information through the notes system with the intent to corrupt Community Notes
• Resell or commercially redistribute access to the Service or its outputs
• Use the Service in any way that violates Discord's Terms of Service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service for violation of these Terms, with or without notice.

06 // Personal Notes and Community Notes

Personal Notes that you create through Canis are associated with your account and visible only to you.

Community Notes are generated by the system when multiple users report similar information about a game entity. By submitting notes, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, aggregate, and display the substance of your contributions as part of the Community Notes feature. Individual contributions are anonymized before being surfaced to other users.

We do not guarantee the accuracy of any information provided by the Service, including Community Notes. Canis is an informational tool, not an authoritative source. Game information may be outdated, incomplete, or incorrect.

07 // Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, branding, and knowledge graph structure, is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

ARC Raiders and all related game content, trademarks, and intellectual property belong to their respective owners. Canis is an independent third-party tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Embark Studios or any game developer.

08 // Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information provided will be accurate or complete. Canis is currently in beta, and features, availability, and performance may change without notice.

09 // Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.

10 // Modifications to the Service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

11 // Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Canis Discord community server or by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12 // Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in accordance with applicable law.
